Plettenberg Bay is characterised by sweeping, unspoilt golden beaches, a dramatic rocky peninsula, intriguing lagoons and estuaries, towering indigenous forests and unpolluted rivers and sea. With its exceptional climate, and beautiful view sites over the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay is perfect for tourists interested in exploring, watching or just lazing.
The Manor is central to the largest selection of attractions along the Garden Route. They are spread along the coast from Knysna, a thirty-minute drive west, to the furthest point of the Tsitsikamma Forest in the east. In-between are subjects of interest that have keep guests busily occupied – Beaches, Whale and Dolphin Watching, Surfing, Fishing, Kayaking, Boating Golfing, Nature Walks/Cycling Wildlife Arts & Crafts and shopping.
Beaches
Plettenberg Bay boasts the best beaches along the Garden Route. We have no less than 4 beaches that in total measure more than 15 km’s in length. Distances and time taken by car from Bosavern Guest House, Central Beach 2 Km’s (2 minutes), Robberg Beach 2 Km’s ( 2 Minutes), Keurboom Beach 10 Km’s (15 minutes).
Boat Cruises
Ocean Safaris and Ocean Blue cruises leave from Central Beach on a daily basis. After a short briefing, an exhilarating beach launch will be the start of your adventure. The boats operate three to four times a day, seven days a week, depending on sea and weather conditions. The duration of each tour is approximately 2 hours, life jackets, windbreakers and refreshments are provided.
Golf
Plettenberg Bay is well known for its beautiful golf courses – Plettenberg Bay Country Club and Goose Valley. Both are superb 18 hole courses. Booking ahead of time is essential. Other courses to play are Pezula and Simola in Knysna and Fancourt in George. Plett Country Club 2 Km’s (5 minutes) | Goose Valley: Km’s | 5 Km’s (7 minutes) | Pezula in Knysna 35 Km’s (35 minutes) | Simola in Knysna 37 Km’s (40 minutes) | Fan Court (Links course) 100 Km’s (70 minutes).
Elephant Park
Here the legacy of the Knysna Elephant lives on. The experience is somewhat of a closer kind than at Kruger or Addo – visitors are allowed to touch and feed the elephants. The Knysna Elephant Park and The Elephant Sanctuary are both 10 minutes by car from the centre of Plettenberg Bay.
Monkeyland
Monkeyland is unique as a primate sanctuary. It is home to many varied species of monkey from several continents, which were captive bred prior to their release at Monkeyland. Situated 16 km east of Plett, it offers visitors safaris conducted by game rangers. This is the world’s only multi specie, free roaming primate sanctuary.
Birds of Eden
Birds of Eden is the World’s largest single span aviary. The sanctuary provides a better life for 3 000+ previously caged birds. A large variety of both indigenous and exotic birds can be seen at the sanctuary, however Birds of Eden will eventually be home to the largest collection of free-flight African birds in the World.
Jukani Wild Life Sanctuary
Where big cats are at home. A life changing experience with Bengal Tigers. White Bengal Tigers, Siberian Tigers, Lions, Leopards and Black Leopard Pumas, Jaguars, Wild Dog’s, Snakes and a lot more.
Robberg Nature Reserve
Robberg, situated 8km south of Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route, is not only a nature reserve, but also a World Heritage Site. Rocks from this region date back 120 million years to the break-up of Gondwanaland and evidence of middle and later Stone Age inhabitation has been found in a few of the caves along the peninsula. Visitors can find out more at the Nelson Bay Cave interpretive centre.

Plett Seal Adventures offers you a 1,5-hour guided tour to swim with seals in the Robberg nature reserve – a marine protected area in Plettenberg Bay.
